New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke out against those who committed the violence that left 49 people dead and 41 people injured at two different Mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said before the press:

     “Many of those who will have been directly affected by this
      shooting may be migrants to New Zealand, they may even be
      refugees here. They have chosen to make New Zealand their
      home, and it is their home. They are us. The person who has
      perpetuated this violence against us is not. They have no place
      in New Zealand. There is no place in New Zealand for such acts
      of extreme and unprecedented violence which is clear this act
      was. For now, my thoughts, and I’m sure the thoughts of all New
      Zealanders, are with those who have been affected, and also
      their families.”

Brenton Tarrant is a far right extremist who opened fire around 1:30PM on a group of worshippers in two different Mosques.

The attack, which lasted for approximately 16 minutes, was streamed live on Facebook via a camera Tarrant had mounted onto his helmet.

Tarrant has been arrested and remains in police custody. There are two other suspects in custody as well.

The BBC reported that between 10 to 20 minutes before the attack occurred, a person went to the alt-right messaging board site 8chan to post that Tarrant was going to commit the attacks.

Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have been rushing to take down images of the attacks which have been copied and circulated on the social media sites.

There has not been any word on whether law enforcement was notified about the posting on the alt right site 8chan.

According to CNN’s report, Tarrant has been planning the attacks for two years and has written an 87 page manifesto detailing why he committed the attacks.

Several world leaders have come out in support of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the people of New Zealand.
